All About Labradoodles

ALAA registration

Being ALAA registered means that we keep the health of our dogs as our number one priority. We are committed to being educated breeders, and you are guaranteed an Australian labradoodle with a wonderful bloodline. We, along with the ALAA are committed to fostering healthy companionship between humans and Australian labradoodles.

Puppy sizes

Our labradoodles will come in three sizes. Mini which is 14-16 inches tall and typically 15 to 25 pounds. A medium which is 17-20 inches tall and 25 to 45 pounds. And a standard which is 21-25 inches tall and usually above 45 pounds.

Coat and coloring

Here at Meadows Edge Labradoodles we breed for a fleece coat. This is the silky smooth and wavy fur that is often associated with labradoodles. The many colors and combinations are almost endless. But the main colors are cream, white, red, black, and apricot.

Fur and coat types

There are three types of labradoodle coats. A hair coat, more common in earlier generations is higher maintenance, coarser. And has a straighter wavy texture. Hair coats are likely to shed lightly. Wool coats are curlier, softer, and usually non shedding. We breed for a fleece coat. A medium curl, silky soft texture, and non-shedding. Fleece coats require regular brushing to prevent mats, but the payoff is well worth it.

Genetics

F1 labradoodles - Cross between a standard poodle and a Labrador retriever
F1B labradoodles - Cross between a standard poodle and an F1 labradoodle.
An Australian labradoodle is a mix between a poodle, Labrador, and a cocker spaniel, compared to the standard labradoodle which is a mix between a poodle and a Labrador.

Temperament

Labradoodles are clever, playful, and sociable animals. They display emotional intelligence among their family members and other dogs. Australian labradoodles were originally bred for the temperament of a service dog, while being asthma and allergy friendly.
